posted by photoboy277. Ok, now read careful because this is an important step. Not difficult, but you must be attentive. Ctrl-Click on the desaturated hood layer to make the hood your selection and then click back onto the carbon fiber layer, hit Ctrl+I (this will invert the selection and hit Delete).
The order of layers should be : background layer on bottom, then hood layer and then the carbon fiber hood layer on top. See, wasn’t that hard.
8. Now change the blending mode of thcarbon fiber layer to Overlay.
9. Now, in some cases you need to change the lightness of the layer to make it more realistic. You do this by going to Hue/Saturation (Image -> Adjustment > Hue/Saturation or Ctrl+U) and decrease or increase the Lightness value. In my case, I used a value of +12, but you can change it to fit your image.
10. And voila, here’s the final result.
